Travel, for me, is more than just a change of scenery; it's a recalibration of the soul. It's in wandering that I find myself most deeply rooted and connected to the heartbeat of Mother Nature. Since my wanderlust first took hold, it has been an unwavering beacon, guiding me to new experiences, inspiration, and new ways to infuse my craft with the stories of the world. This collection, born from the sun-drenched shores of Hawaii, embodies that very spirit. I knew, when my partner and I were planning this adventure, that I wanted to capture the raw, breathtaking beauty of this sacred place and distill it into a tangible form that I could share with all of you. This collection symbolizes a beautiful moment in my life, a trip born from a celebration of love and life lived with my very favorite person. It’s a story I am honored to share with all of you through each unique hand-picked pearl piece.
Hawaii: Where the Earth Breathes and the Ocean Sings
Hawaii is a special place with an ancient energy that you can feel deep within your bones. Our trip there was planned on a whim. We wanted to celebrate our anniversary, and since I had never been to Hawaii my love decided that was exactly where we had to go! He was honored to be able to take me and watch my awe and wonder as I took in this special place, a symphony of natural wonders that left an indelible mark on my heart and imagination.
- When we arrived on the Big Island, the volcano had been erupting for a while, and we knew we wanted to see if we could catch it. Sadly, it stopped the day before we arrived. We didn’t let that stop us. We hiked for the entire day, taking in the power and beauty of Volcanoes National Park. It was incredible to see the Earth's raw power on full display, a reminder of the constant cycles of creation and transformation. It’s a place that deeply resonated with my creative spirit.
- We went on a morning beach hike and called my babies. It was so fun showing them the lava beaches and crashing waves. It seemed so silly- here we are in paradise, somehow wishing the kids were with us. I’m glad we had the solo time together, and we may be scheming on a trip back with them in tow! Turns out one trip just wasn’t enough!
- We didn’t just take in nature. We also soaked up the rich history of the culture and breathtaking Hawaiian art in the forms of wood carving and hula dancing. It was such a gift to be able to experience so much in such a short period.
- These experiences, moments of pure, unadulterated awe in the face of Mother Nature's grandeur, infused every decision, every design choice, for the Pearl Collection. It’s impossible to be untouched by such beauty, and I truly believe that energy flows into the pieces themselves.
Pearls: A Perfectly Imperfect Metaphor
This marks my first-ever travel-inspired collection. It is a love letter to the "perfectly imperfect" nature of freshwater pearls. These aren't your grandmother's pearls. Instead, I was inspired by the pearls with organic shapes and unique color variations, and large Tahitian beauties. Each imperfect indentation shines proudly in its luster. Why? Because even the imperfect things in life can radiate beauty.
A pearl is formed when an irritant, a tiny grain of sand or a parasite, finds its way inside a mollusk's shell. In response, the animal secretes layers of nacre, a protective chemical, to coat the irritant. Over time, layer upon layer, this defense mechanism transforms a source of discomfort into a thing of exquisite beauty. This process, this act of creation from adversity, resonates deeply with my own philosophy of life. We all face challenges and moments of discomfort. But it is in our response- our ability to coat those difficulties with grace and strength- that we create our own pearls of wisdom, resilience, and beauty. I hope that when you wear these pieces, you are reminded of your own strength and the beauty of your journey.

Such was their value that they were even used as a form of currency. It wasn't until the 1920s, with the advent of pearl farming in Hawaii, that these luminous treasures became more accessible. Even today, Hawaiian pearls are celebrated globally as some of the finest in the world.
The process of selecting the pearls for this collection was an adventure in itself. I was able to work exclusively with Aloha Pearls in Kona, Hawaii. This wasn't a typical retail experience; Aloha Pearls is a wholesale-only establishment, offering a truly private shopping experience. Stepping into their space felt like entering a hidden treasure trove. It was a truly immersive experience, allowing me to hand-select each and every pearl that would become part of this collection. I poured over thousands and thousands of pearls, seeking out the ones that spoke to me, the ones that had that special spark, that unique character that makes them "perfectly imperfect."
This collection features many varieties of pearls. From the subtle iridescence of freshwater pearls to the magnificent, often dark, luster of large Tahitian pearls, each piece is designed to highlight the individual beauty of each hand-picked pearl. Some pieces are truly one-of-a-kind, designed to embrace the singular nature of a particular pearl, while others feature groupings that play with texture and light. In every single design, my aim was to craft something that not only showcased the pearl but allowed its inherent luminosity to shine through, creating a piece that feels both organic and exquisitely refined.
